President Donald Trump told Israelis that if they pick anyone other than 'Bibi', America will have to finish the job against Iran itself, and he is 'not inclined to do so'. He had withheld the endorsement for months while the two leaders' Middle East strategies diverged. Israel votes on 27 October, its first election since the Hamas attack of 7 October 2023. Polls point to a tight race.

Many Israelis are disappointed by the inconclusive Iran war and Trump's ceasefire proposal.

Trump has also endorsed candidates in Hungary, Colombia, Argentina, Japan and Honduras.
