Trump flies 3,400 miles to Alaska to back Senator Dan Sullivan against a Democrat and a 'fake' rival with the same name

President Donald Trump made the journey to Wasilla, Alaska, to stump for Republican Senator Dan Sullivan, who is facing pressure on two fronts — from Democrat Mary Peltola and from a second candidate named Dan J Sullivan whom Trump described as a Democratic plant intended to sow confusion among voters. Trump told the crowd the rival Sullivan "never did anything" and urged Alaskans to vote for the "real" Dan Sullivan, calling the tactic "disgraceful." Trump also announced a Taiwan deal to buy 30% of Alaska LNG output for 20 years and invest more than $4 billion in the project, though no immediate confirmation from Taiwan was available. The visit came despite Trump carrying Alaska by 13.5 points in 2024, with Sullivan's race remaining unexpectedly close.

Trump pardoned two Alaska men, Zachary Czuback and Patrick Fleming, who pleaded guilty in 2022 to tampering with diesel vehicle emission controls under the Clean Air Act.

Trump claimed affordability pressures hurting Sullivan were caused by the Biden administration, insisting groceries "have come way down" under his watch.
