Trump hits back at Obama's Cheesecake Factory jibe, telling a rally he left the White House 'filthy, dirty and broken'

Trump spent several minutes on Monday defending his White House renovations — first with reporters at Joint Base Andrews, then at a Mississippi rally — after Obama's jab clearly rattled him. The row erupted after Obama campaigned for Democrats in Ohio on Saturday, mocking Trump's gold accents, new ballroom and South Lawn helipad. Trump's voice was visibly strained after days of nonstop rallying, keeping his Mississippi appearance to under 90 minutes.

Obama's original quip — 'He's got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory' — drew laughter but also accusations of snobbery toward working-class Americans who eat there.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent staged his own riposte, mocking Obama outside a Washington Cheesecake Factory and inviting the 'Martha's Vineyard set to give it a try.'

Trump conceded he 'has fun' renovating and that it 'relaxes' him — an aside that allies privately note is a distraction from the Iran war, high gas prices and record-low approval ratings.
