Both clips arrived after Trump issued an executive order to rename Lake Ontario — one of the five Great Lakes along the US-Canada border — during an escalating trade dispute in which Washington has levied 50% tariffs on Canadian goods. Google has confirmed that US users will now see the lake labelled 'Lake America' on Google Maps.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford responded by unveiling a real 24-by-12-foot sign on the Canadian shoreline reading 'Lake Ontario. Now and Always.'
Ford declared: 'Long after President Trump is gone, it will still be called Lake Ontario' — while Canada readies 'dollar for dollar' counter-tariffs next month.
