Trump's Board of Peace unveils $2.45bn Gaza blueprint but only $280m of $18bn pledged has actually arrived

Jared Kushner admitted progress has been slower than hoped as Trump's Board of Peace presented a 66-project, six-month recovery plan for Gaza at the UN General Assembly in New York, covering housing, hospitals, roads and Hamas disarmament. The full cost of rebuilding Gaza is estimated at $71.4bn over a decade, with medium-term infrastructure repairs alone put at $35.2bn. Israel and Hamas have still not agreed on key ceasefire terms, and Israeli forces now occupy around 60% of Gaza.
The central sticking point remains Hamas weapons: Israel insists the group must fully disarm before its forces withdraw, while Hamas has so far refused.
Among the plan's projects are clearing Hamas's tunnel network, a weapons buy-back scheme, building up a new Palestinian police force from scratch and even restoring a Palestinian airline.
