Trump's Justice Department charges James Comey for a THIRD time over an alleged 2016 leak to the New York Times

The charges were filed without grand jury approval, through a so-called 'information', to beat a 10-year statute of limitations. Prosecutors allege James Comey directed staff to brief reporter Charlie Savage for an October 2016 article on Yahoo aiding FBI email surveillance. Comey faces two counts under the Espionage Act. Hours earlier, Judge Jesse M. Furman ruled his daughter Maurene was illegally fired.

Comey's attorney Patrick Fitzgerald says two prosecutors' offices already investigated and declined charges.

Comey hit back on Instagram: 'Well, they're back — again… I'm still innocent.'

Comey called the prosecution an 'appalling abuse of the Department of Justice'.
