Trump's new press secretary fired while sitting down for a Wall Street Journal interview, days after rocky debut
Laughter erupts in the briefing room as Katie Zacharia cuts short her debut White House press conference after accepting just three pre-selected questions in 14 minutes.
Katie Zacharia was mid-interview with the Wall Street Journal when she was ousted as White House press secretary, in an extraordinarily awkward moment that capped a chaotic five-day tenure. Senior adviser Jason Miller knocked on her West Wing door at 1pm on Friday saying 'JD wanted to chat with us real quick'. She walked out and never came back. Minutes later President Donald Trump told reporters on his helipad: 'Honestly, if I were you, I'd reconsider.' Her debut briefing lasted just 14 minutes, and she admitted she never passed the bar exam.
Her five-day stint smashes Anthony Scaramucci's previous 11-day record for brevity.
Trump reportedly told aides privately that she was not talented.
Zacharia still hailed Trump as 'kind, wonderful, gracious' after being axed.
