Trump says he ordered the DOJ to sue Alaska to block the Senate result if Republican Dan Sullivan loses

The lawsuit claims a second candidate, Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., will confuse voters backing Senator Dan S. Sullivan against Democrat Mary Peltola. "I'm the one that said do it," President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday. Government lawyers want certification halted until an inquiry into misdirected votes. Polls show Peltola tied or slightly ahead before the November 3 midterms.

The Alaska Supreme Court already rejected Republican efforts to strike the other Sullivan off.

Daniel J. Sullivan, a former teacher from Petersburg, denies trying to divert votes.

Attorney General Todd Blanche would not rule out blocking certification in other states.
