'I will be very generous': Trump names himself sole judge of payouts in a new fraud whistleblower bounty scheme

President Donald Trump promised tipsters an unlimited 1% commission on recovered fraud, saying 'people will make millions of dollars by turning others in.' The Justice Department's own website tells a different story, capping awards at $10,000 to $30,000 at its 'sole discretion'. The Treasury is putting $25 million into the scheme. Vice President JD Vance said fraud 'is stopping'.

The first award, a reported $10,000, went to pro-Trump YouTuber Nick Shirley, 24.

Minnesota officials disputed his viral childcare-fraud claims, but one centre owner later pleaded guilty.

Trump asked the room: 'Does everybody trust me?'
