Republican Senator Dan S. Sullivan is defending his seat against Democrat Mary Peltola on 3 November. A retired teacher, Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., is also standing, and critics have dubbed him 'Decoy Dan'. President Donald Trump says he ordered the Justice Department to sue to block certification if the senator loses. Peltola holds a 1.2-point lead in the RealClearPolitics polling average.

'Decoy Dan' is a registered Republican who admits backing Democrats and attended a 'No Kings' rally.

Trump branded Senator Lisa Murkowski 'Republicans' Worst Senator' after she attacked the lawsuit.

Peltola was hurt in a car crash and will return to the campaign trail on Tuesday in Homer.
