Trump vows to hold US judge responsible for anyone killed at 'disgusting' DC golf course, claiming a staffer was hit

President Trump turned to Truth Social to lambast US District Judge Ana Reyes after she extended a preliminary injunction halting his planned overhaul of East Potomac Golf Course in Washington DC. He declared that Reyes would be "fully responsible for anybody who is hurt, or killed" at the site, and illustrated the post with photographs of torn netting, yellowed grass and what he characterised as feces. The outburst came fewer than seven days before the midterm elections.

Reyes issued the injunction after the administration cut down more than 400 trees without giving proper notice, informing government lawyers they had forfeited "all of their credibility."

Trump claimed a White House staffer had been struck "violently in the chest" by a stray golf ball, yet offered no name, date or indication of the injury's severity — the White House has not publicly named the individual.

Political journalists were dismissive of the unnamed staffer claim, with one editor saying he was "dying" to know who it was, while critics noted that Trump had spent his evening railing about a golf course with the midterms only days away.
