Tui tightens profit forecast as last-minute holiday bookings surge despite Iran war fuel costs

Travel giant Tui has tightened its full-year operating profit guidance to a range of €1.2bn–€1.3bn, after a wave of late bookings over the past four weeks offset a slow summer. UK bookings had been down 7% over summer and 9% for winter, but the most recent month brought a 2% uptick in summer demand and trimmed the winter shortfall sharply to just 1%. Tui flagged that elevated fuel costs, driven by the Iran war, remain a concern, with only 39% of its summer 2027 fuel requirements currently hedged.
Greece, Spain, the Balearics and the Canaries led summer demand; the Canaries, Egypt and Cape Verde are forecast to be the top winter destinations.
Tui shares dropped nearly 1.4% in Frankfurt this morning as markets remained wary of the unhedged fuel exposure.
