A massive fire broke out at a residential property on Market Street in Nottingham city centre at around 22:55 on Monday night, sending 12 fire engines racing to the scene. Roads across Upper and Lower Parliament Street, Market Street, King Street and Queen Street are closed, and Nottingham Express Transit trams have been halted in both directions between the Theatre Royal and Market Square. Fire crews warn they are likely to remain on scene for several more hours. Residents affected by smoke are urged to keep doors and windows shut.

Nottingham Fire and Rescue Service told the public to 'avoid area at all costs' as emergency services tackle the blaze.

Firefighters issued a morning update warning crews will remain on scene for several more hours as the blaze continues.
