Showkoth Ahmed, 31, and Jahidul Hassan Jaigirdar, 34, both Bangladeshi nationals with links to Tower Hamlets, are wanted over the rape of a 13-year-old girl in Bethnal Green in the early hours of 1 August 2024. The victim told police she was led by two men from Whitechapel Road into Weavers Fields park, where she was raped and later discovered by a passer-by. Ahmed is believed to still be in the UK; Jaigirdar is thought to have fled to Bangladesh.

The attack took place at around 11.30pm; police spent two years examining CCTV footage, carrying out forensic work and speaking to witnesses before identifying the suspects.

Crimestoppers is offering a £10,000 reward to anyone whose information leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Detective Chief Inspector Anna Deighton is calling on both men to surrender, saying public response to September's appeal 'led us to this stage of our enquiries'.
