Two British nationals have £50m in assets frozen, including a £1.9m yacht, under a rare 'McMafia' wealth order

The couple, known only as Mr X and Ms X, now have three months to prove their fortune was legally earned or risk losing it for good. The CPS can then apply to take everything permanently, with no criminal conviction required. The frozen assets include eight vehicles collectively valued at around £600,000, along with real estate across England, France, Spain and Portugal. Neither has been charged with any crime.

It is only the second such order granted since the powers arrived in January 2018.

The CPS's Adrian Foster said the pair must 'prove how they obtained their wealth'.

A bank account holding roughly £2.6m is also caught up in the freeze.
