Abdul-Rasheed Anjolaoluwa Oduola, 19, from Dagenham, and Miraldie Ndunzi, 22, from east London, were arrested by Barbados police on September 29 after officers allegedly found them carrying 47kg of cocaine between them. Both face charges of possession, trafficking, intent to supply and attempting to export a Class A drug. The Foreign Office confirmed it is providing consular assistance to the pair.

Each man was found with roughly 23kg of cocaine, with each haul valued at over £440,000 on UK streets.

Oduola and Ndunzi appeared at District B Magistrates' Court in Horse Hill, St Joseph, on October 2 as an investigation remains ongoing.

The arrests come months after Canadian pensioner Ronald Lord, 71, was jailed for six years for smuggling 8kg of cocaine into Britain from Barbados hidden inside his mobility scooter.
