Two former FBI officials appear in a Washington court charged with lying to Congress over Hunter Biden's laptop

FBI Director Kash Patel says Nikki Floris is on record privately claiming to be 'running a shadow government' during the 2020 election. Floris told the House Judiciary Committee in 2023: 'I don't have any knowledge of said laptop.' Prosecutors allege she and Bradley Benavides discussed it in briefings, emails and meetings before the vote. Their lawyers want a speedy hearing to fight the charges.

Both led the FBI's Foreign Influence Task Force, which was shut down under Trump.

Benavides told Congress he learned of the laptop from a 'Wikipedia article'.

Benavides' lawyer called the charges a 'disgrace', while Floris' team hails her as 'a patriot'.
