Two Iranian men who arrived on small boats will stand trial accused of plotting chlorine bomb attack on Manchester synagogue

Salam Ahmadyan, 36, of Liverpool, and Rahman Salehi, 34, of Salford, are accused of scouting Heaton Park Synagogue, where two worshippers died in a terror attack last year. Police allegedly saw the pair filming Jewish sites on the eve of Yom Kippur. Prosecutors say a contact believed to be in Iran directed the plot. Both men deny the charges and face a five-week trial from 15 June 2027.

The Iranian contact allegedly sent instructions for a bomb made from chlorine and brake fluid.

Prosecutors say the Jewish Museum in Cheetham Hill was also an alleged target.

Prosecutor Lyndon Harris told the court: 'This was reconnaissance in preparation for an act of terrorism.'
