Two Iranian small-boat migrants accused of plotting chlorine bomb attack on Manchester synagogue will stand trial next June
Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester, where Salam Ahmadyan and Rahman Salehi will stand trial accused of plotting a chlorine bomb attack on a synagogue, with a contact allegedly in Iran directing the plot.
Salam Ahmadyan, 36, of Liverpool, and Rahman Salehi, 34, of Salford, deny preparing acts of terrorism against Manchester's Jewish community. Prosecutors allege they scouted Heaton Park Synagogue, where Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby were killed last Yom Kippur. Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb set a five-week trial at Manchester Crown Court from 15 June 2027. Salehi was granted asylum, while Ahmadyan's claim is still pending.
Prosecutors allege an Iranian handler, most likely inside Iran, directed the plot.
The pair were arrested in the Northern Quarter on the eve of Yom Kippur.
Salehi reached Britain by small boat in 2020 after five years in Germany.
