Two men and two women are arrested after a police officer was shot with a 'sawn-off shotgun' in Nottingham
The officer was on Angel Row at 4.50am on Sunday when he approached two individuals and was shot in the foot. The male and female pair escaped, triggering a manhunt, and a firearm was subsequently recovered. He is being treated in hospital, where he is stable and his family are with him. Police and Crime Commissioner Gary Godden praised his bravery.
Assistant Chief Constable Claire Rukas: it 'unfolded in front of members of the public'.
Members of the public rushed to the wounded officer's aid before other emergency services reached the scene.
The Police Federation called it 'a stark reminder' of the dangers officers face daily.
