A girl aged 12 was killed in crossfire at Leon Day Park in Baltimore on Saturday evening after two men drew weapons during a dispute over a parking space while children watched an American football game. Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley called the shooters "two cowards" who opened fire on each other, catching the girl and three adults in the crossfire. No arrests have been made and police are hunting at least two suspects.
Mayor Brandon Scott called it "one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen in my life" and vowed to hold those responsible accountable.
A 25-year-old woman was also shot and is in a stable condition; two men aged 23 and 28 were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the girl was not a target and was almost certainly watching the youth football game when she was struck.
