Uber beats 13,300 London black cab drivers in High Court as 'conspiracy' claims ruled too late

Nearly 13,300 London black cab drivers have lost their conspiracy case against Uber after Mr Justice Birt ruled every claim time-barred. The cabbies alleged Uber deceived Transport for London between 2012 and 2018, falsely claiming its London arm accepted bookings and hiding 'Greyball' software that showed suspected officials a 'dummy' app full of fake cars.

Claimants said Uber would never have won a private hire licence without the alleged deception.

TfL director Helen Chapman said Uber 'must have known how its own systems operated'.

Funder Harbour withdrew in November 2019, then claimants went silent for four and a half years before suing.
