Uganda forces citizens returning from Congo into 21-day quarantine at their own cost after two Ebola cases passed through Entebbe

The death toll in DR Congo has surpassed 4,800 since May, making it the country's deadliest Ebola outbreak on record. Health Minister Chris Baryomunsi announced that entry from Congo will be restricted to essential travellers, and anyone who has passed through the country is prohibited from transiting Uganda. Non-essential Congolese visitors will be turned back at their own expense. Those who attempt to cross illegally face prosecution.
Nigeria's patient is the Ugandan-born wife of a Swiss diplomat, holidaying in Kampala.
Switzerland insists she never visited Congo, but Uganda says it cannot yet confirm this.
All 60 contacts of Kenya's Ebola patient have now been discharged, Uganda's ministry says.
