Lucy Harrison, a fashion buyer aged 23 from Warrington, died from a gunshot wound to the chest inflicted by her British father Kris Harrison at his home in Prosper, Texas, on 10 January 2025 — the day before her flight home. Her family approached Cheshire Constabulary after discovering previously uninvestigated messages on her phone, but Deputy Chief Constable Mike Evans told them the force is "constrained" by legal and jurisdictional limits and cannot act.

A Collin County grand jury cleared Kris Harrison after he told investigators that his Glock went off by accident as he was demonstrating it to Lucy.

A UK coroner ruled in February that Kris had aimed a loaded weapon at Lucy without verifying the chamber was clear before pulling the trigger — concluding he had unlawfully killed her through gross negligence manslaughter.

Despite that ruling, Cheshire Police told the family there are "significant operational, evidential and jurisdictional barriers" blocking any intervention.
