Ukrainian drones hit an oil refinery in Russia's Yaroslavl as Kyiv defies Trump's requests to stop targeting Russian oil

Ukraine struck a Yaroslavl oil refinery with drones in the early hours of Tuesday, despite Trump personally asking President Zelenskyy to halt attacks on Russian energy infrastructure as global fuel prices climb. Russia claimed to have shot down 856 Ukrainian drones overnight, with strikes hitting regions from Moscow to Crimea. Kyiv has now targeted at least three Russian refineries since Friday, an accelerating campaign that is straining its relationship with Washington.

The Samara oil hub was also hit on Monday, sparking a fire at a major crude pumping station, according to satellite imagery.

Russia temporarily suspended flights at Samara's Kurumoch International Airport for several hours after air raid alerts across the region.
