Ukraine hits a Russian plant making solid rocket fuel for Moscow's missiles despite Washington warning Kyiv to halt strikes

Ukraine struck the Kamensky chemical plant in Russia's Rostov region overnight on Saturday using a complex of drones and Neptune missiles, targeting a facility its military says produces solid rocket fuel for Uragan, Smerch and Tornado-S multiple-launch rocket systems. The attack came despite repeated Washington warnings to Kyiv to halt long-range strikes on Russian soil. Separately, Bashneft refineries in Ufa were also hit, setting a reforming unit ablaze.

Russia retaliated by launching 134 drones at Ukraine overnight, blacking out parts of Kyiv after an energy facility was struck.

Trilateral peace talks between the US, Russia and Ukraine are set to resume in Abu Dhabi next month, as Zelensky held talks with Turkey's Erdogan on Black Sea security.

At the G20, European diplomats including Ed Miliband refused to engage with Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov as the family photo was cancelled over the ongoing Russian attacks.
