Ukrainian drones set Russia's Yaroslavl oil refinery ablaze and injure two as Moscow claims 856 drones were downed overnight

Ukraine's largest drone assault on the Yaroslavl refinery in 2026 left multiple separate fire zones burning across the Slavneft-YANOS complex, one of Russia's five biggest oil-processing facilities, with an annual refining capacity of roughly 15 million metric tons of crude. Two people were injured in the strike. Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Yevrayev acknowledged infrastructure damage despite claiming air defences intercepted 124 drones during the raid.
The Slavneft-YANOS plant has now been struck at least four times in 2026; Yevrayev previously said it was "effectively on the front line."
Moscow's wider overnight tally of 856 drones downed across Russia suggests the Yaroslavl raid was part of a massive coordinated Ukrainian campaign.
