Ukrainian drones set a Russian oil refinery east of Moscow ablaze under a mushroom cloud despite Trump's pressure to stop

Ukraine struck the Kamensky chemical plant in Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Rostov Oblast — just 15 kilometres from the Ukrainian border — with drones and Neptune cruise missiles overnight, setting a finished-goods warehouse ablaze and damaging four production units. The attack came despite reported US pressure on Kyiv to pause refinery strikes ahead of America's Midterm Elections on November 3.
The Kamensky plant produces solid rocket propellant for Russia's Uragan, Smerch and Tornado-S multiple-launch rocket systems and has been sanctioned by the EU, UK and US.
Ukraine also struck the Bashneft refineries in Ufa and four Russian military supply depots across Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Luhansk oblasts in the same overnight operation.
Putin's foreign affairs aide Yuri Ushakov claimed the Russian president would take a call from Zelensky — though Putin has refused such calls repeatedly since before the war began.
