'Unacceptable and stupid': Macron blasts Trump for blaming immigration for the riots that have engulfed France
Donald Trump warned that French riots — in which nearly 2,400 arrests were made and almost 1,000 officers injured — show America's future under Democrats.
President Donald Trump told American voters to 'just look at France' and claimed 'Paris is going to be a Muslim city very soon.' On Truth Social he declared 'France is burning!' and blamed migrants 'with hatred in their hearts'. Emmanuel Macron, speaking in Qatar, said foreign leaders were using France for their election campaigns. French authorities have now banned some of the student protests planned for Thursday.
Trump insisted: 'Emmanuel should have closed his borders a long time ago. I told him to do it.'
Asked whether he meant Trump, Macron replied: 'Among others.'
Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu claimed France had 'ceded to an invasion by Islamist extremists'.
