University Challenge contestants accuse the BBC of 'Orwellian' censorship after their Pride badges were edited out of the show

University of Leicester student Samuel Carlier says the rainbow flag on his jacket 'melted into itself' at odd moments on screen. Teammate Emmeline Hague-Wright was allegedly told her rainbow feather would be removed. Their episode was pushed back twice before finally airing on BBC Two on September 7. Carlier was referred to the complaints website and says he has still heard nothing back.

'If I had worn a rainbow shirt, would they have censored that?' asked Carlier.
