University of Chicago identifies person of interest in frat house rape after crowd outside chanted 'when's my turn'

A person of interest has been identified in the alleged rape of a University of Illinois-Chicago student at the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house in Chicago's Hyde Park neighbourhood in the early hours of Sunday morning. The university confirmed the man is not a student or affiliated with the institution and has been banned from campus, though no charges have been filed. The victim's friend Mia Lara, 21, forced her way into the locked bathroom and found the woman partially undressed, with a man holding her wrists, as she shouted 'Make it stop.' The suspect allegedly told Lara afterwards, 'She wanted to.'
While the assault allegedly took place, men gathered outside the locked bathroom door chanting 'when's my turn?' and 'I want to go in there.'
The victim, who arrived at the party after seeing it advertised on the fraternity's Instagram account, told police she lost consciousness and awoke to find herself being assaulted.
Alpha Epsilon Pi's national organisation says the suspect was not a chapter member, and that no members are believed to have participated in or known about the alleged assault.
