University student who stabbed his housemate 30 times then ate pizza and played video games is jailed for life
Zack Coughlan, who admitted murdering his housemate Jamie Collins eight hours before calling police, was jailed for life with a minimum 28-year term.Three photos of Jamie Collins, whom Mr Justice Linden described as 'a gentle soul who was averse to conflict', killed by Zack Coughlan in a garden ambush.
Zack Coughlan, 23, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 28 years for the murder of Jamie Collins, 21, a robotics student, in what the judge described as a 'carefully planned and cold-blooded execution' at their shared home in Filton. Coughlan, who owned the property, had been in dispute with Collins over rent. Dressed in black and wearing a mask and gloves, he lay in wait for Collins on April 8. Mr Justice Linden dismissed his claim of fear, describing Collins as a 'gentle soul'.
Hours after the attack, Coughlan called 999, falsely claiming he had only just discovered his housemate's body.
CCTV captured the killing, footage Coughlan subsequently watched on five separate occasions.
Collins had only two pieces of coursework left to complete before he was due to return home to Swansea.
