US Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins is accused of racism over a 'SNAP fraudster' Halloween costume post warning food-stamp thieves

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins posted a Halloween image built around a mock Spirit Halloween costume package that identified an African American man as a "SNAP Fraudster," with listed props including stacks of taxpayers' cash, fake grills, an EBT card, and handcuffs. The image is broadly interpreted as targeting Mercedes Reshard New, a Black Atlanta influencer known as Shawty Dred, who was indicted this month on federal charges alleging she fraudulently obtained over $4 million in SNAP benefits through a stolen-identity scheme.
Journalist Mehdi Hasan called the post "open brazen racism" and "insane white supremacy" from Trump cabinet members.
Democratic Rep. Shontel Brown called Rollins' post "despicable" and "disgusting," warning she will demand answers at an Agriculture Committee hearing in January.
Lawyer George Conway dubbed Rollins "Secretary of Racism," while critics also noted that Trump has pardoned or commuted sentences of individuals convicted of fraud.
