US Army practises digging mass graves for troops for the first time since the Korean War amid Iran war fears

Operation Dragon Covenant Phase II began last month at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, with soldiers from the 3rd Corps Sustainment Command and the 20th Engineer Brigade using bulldozers and excavators to dig and refill trenches. Planners calculated that a continuous operation running eight bulldozers and four military excavators could process up to 2,400 burials a day. The training follows reports that Admiral Brad Cooper, America's top Middle East commander, has briefed Trump on options for resuming strikes against Iran.
The Iran conflict has reportedly killed at least 22 US military personnel — four more than the Pentagon's public database lists.
Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth called that death-toll report a 'complete lie'.
Military chaplains were advised that the pace of high-intensity combat might leave no time for individual graveside services, so burial sites were pre-blessed in advance to give families reassurance.
