US attorney general Todd Blanche will not rule out blocking states from certifying midterm votes in a 'doomsday scenario'

Todd Blanche spoke to reporters in Norfolk, Virginia, with the midterm elections just 12 days away. He insisted the Justice Department has no intention 'to improperly interfere' with certification. He also refused to make 'conclusory statements' about the future. The Justice Department is still set to send 1,000 election monitors to polling places in every state on Election Day.

Democratic leaders sued Trump and the Justice Department on Tuesday, alleging 'threats and intimidation'.

The department has sued California over 20,000 ballots it flagged as suspected noncitizen votes.

Blanche: 'Am I planning my days around the election to be somewhere to not certify? Of course not.'
