US comedian Carrot Top thanks fans a month after his suicide attempt and will return to the Las Vegas stage on Monday

Scott Thompson, the 61-year-old comic known as Carrot Top, had allegedly been targeted by a $500,000 demand to suppress a 'sexually explicit recording' before his suicide attempt on September 18. A team member he called while in distress located him by the pool at his Las Vegas home; he was subsequently hospitalised in critical condition. His Instagram post on Saturday was his first public statement since the incident.

He wrote that each message, each text and each gesture of goodwill 'meant more to me than you know'.

His return show is scheduled at the Luxor Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

He has headlined a residency at the Luxor since 2005.
