US congresswoman Ilhan Omar's lawyers demand return of items seized from her home as DOJ says letter is 'riddled with false allegations'
Ilhan Omar and Sahra Noor. Federal investigators have subpoenaed Sahra Noor as part of a criminal fraud probe into Omar's immigration paperwork.
Ilhan Omar's legal team calls the probe 'vindictive, retributive, and politically motivated' and accuses the Justice Department of breaching a judge's orders on protecting her rights as a lawmaker. Agents took her phone, notebooks, computers and passport on Monday. Days earlier they reportedly searched her rubbish for DNA. DOJ spokesperson Emily Covington insists officials 'complied with all court orders'.
Tom Emmer says that if fraud is proven, Omar belongs in the 'gray bar motel', then out.
Texts from sister Sahra Noor's seized phone helped investigators win the search warrant.
Markwayne Mullin calls it a 'strong case', with multiple warrants served the same day.
