A 30-second television commercial promoting President Donald Trump aired on Fox News and carried the disclaimer "Paid for by the U.S. Government," prompting outrage from Democrats and unease from Republicans. Titled 'America Will Never Be a Communist Country', the ad vows to defeat communism, socialism and Marxism, touts Trump's tax cuts and ends with UFC CEO Dana White praising Trump as the "toughest, most resilient person" he has ever met. Critics called it state-funded campaign propaganda. The clip reportedly circulated widely after being spotted during Jesse Watters's show.
The ad uses the song 'Love Me' by artist JMSN and briefly shows Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is currently in the US for a summit with Trump.
Florida Democrats chair Nikki Fried said the ad is "pure communist propaganda" and called it "the pure collapse of Trump."
The commercial comes amid the administration's media ban and growing accusations that it is operating its own state-run media operation.
