US intelligence chief warns Iran's plots to kill American officials have reached 'advanced stages' as four embassies cut staff
Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton told Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a Friday memo that Iran has 'substantially increased efforts to target US personnel'. Officials say the threat to Americans is the highest since the war began in February. Staff are being cut at US embassies in Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar and the UAE. The memo names no specific targets.
Non-essential staff and their families were ordered out of Saudi Arabia earlier this week.
President Trump told a Florida rally: 'We may do another little Epic Fury.'
Iran has reportedly drawn up plans to strike Gulf undersea cables if fighting restarts.
