US is to mediate the first Ukraine-Russia peace talks since February in Abu Dhabi next week, Trump envoy Witkoff says
Steve Witkoff, Trump's Middle East envoy, pictured with Vladimir Putin in October, as Ukraine's return to trilateral talks marks a significant development after months of deadlock over Kyiv's core sovereignty demands.
Special Envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed the talks will take place on 10–11 November, making them the first trilateral US-Ukraine-Russia negotiations since February. The Abu Dhabi sessions will focus on security arrangements and de-escalation, Witkoff wrote on X.
Witkoff described the talks as 'advancing President Trump's mission to end the war,' now in its nearly fifth year.
The announcement marks the resumption of a diplomatic track that had stalled for nearly nine months.
Security arrangements and de-escalation measures are set to headline the Abu Dhabi agenda, with working-level negotiators leading the sessions.
