US judge brands Alexander brothers' conduct 'monstrous' and jails each for 30 years after their victims confront them

Tal Alexander, 40, and twins Oren and Alon Alexander, 39 — once among New York's most successful luxury real estate brokers — were each sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on Tuesday by Judge Valerie Caproni in Manhattan, who told them they had 'wreaked havoc' on their victims' lives. The brothers were convicted in March of a conspiracy spanning more than 14 years, with over 70 women saying they were drugged, raped or trafficked at locations including the Hamptons, Aspen and the Bahamas. Twelve victims spoke in court for close to an hour and a half before sentencing, many of them calling for life imprisonment.
Judge Caproni rejected the brothers' plea for the minimum 15-year sentence, rebuking them for their refusal to acknowledge guilt even after being found guilty on all counts.
One victim, who gave her name in court as Maya Miller, said: 'I carry a quiet funeral within me for the person I might have become if this never happened to me.'
Sex trafficking of a minor was among the additional convictions secured against both Alon and Tal; the court also heard that Tal and Alon had each been assaulted in prison ahead of sentencing, while Oren faced disciplinary action for having a mobile phone in his possession.
