US judge orders Trump to sit for BBC deposition by 11 December or risk his $10bn lawsuit being thrown out

Trump cancelled his sworn interview on 16 October, citing 'matters of national importance'. BBC lawyer Charles Tobin told a Miami court the President was at a campaign rally in Dalton, Georgia that day and had 'prioritised that' over their questions. Magistrate Judge Enjoliqué Lett warned of sanctions. Trump's lawyers have offered dates between 11 and 22 January instead.

Trump claims the Panorama edit of his January 6 speech was 'malicious' and 'defamatory'.

The BBC apologised for the edit, blaming an 'error of judgement', but disputes any defamation claim.

Former Trump lawyer Ty Cobb predicts the President will never sit for the deposition.
