Justice Department charges 28 green card holders in California voter sting after the state 'refused to look' at its list

Eleven were arrested on Monday and the other 17 will be taken into custody "in the near future," just two weeks before the midterms. Acting Deputy Attorney General Trent McCotter said each defendant appears on a roster of over 20,000 "likely noncitizen" registrants. Prosecutors say most of the 28 voted using fraudulently obtained ballots. Federal officials now warn election workers who process such ballots could face prosecution.

The DOJ is suing California to stop ballots linked to the 20,000 names being counted.

Bill Essayli: "California is mailing ballots to noncitizens."

Gavin Newsom's office says just 113 people have been charged across 20 states.
