Constance Hages, 31, a mother of four, was shot dead at the Spirit Halloween store in Solano Town Center, Fairfield — about 45 miles northeast of San Francisco — on Halloween eve as families scrambled for last-minute costumes. Her family told detectives she was pregnant at the time of her death. Police and the FBI's Sacramento office are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the lone suspect, who fled before officers arrived.
Three of the six wounded — a boy, 16, and men aged 19 and 32 — remain hospitalised in critical condition.
Police believe the shooting was a targeted attack by a lone gunman, not a random assault on Halloween shoppers.
Teen witness Jocelyn Lopez Tabares, 15, filmed the chaos on her phone, saying: 'What if I wasn't going to make it out of there?'
