US prosecutor in Alaska confirms criminal probe into alleged Democrat plot to plant a 'decoy' Dan Sullivan on the ballot

Mary Peltola's former campaign manager Elisa Rios, who was fired in August, stated that Peltola was "definitely aware" of the scheme to recruit a same-named rival — even as Peltola told supporters at a Juneau rally she "knew nothing" about any candidate other than herself and the incumbent. The Department of Justice, which has issued dozens of subpoenas to Peltola's campaign offices and Dan J. Sullivan's offices, accuses her team of now misleading a federal court over the decoy's true motives.
Daniel J. Sullivan, the retired teacher at the centre of the plot, has vanished from his tiny Petersburg fishing town — spotted flying to Anchorage on Monday.
Around 58,000 Alaskans — nearly one in ten registered voters — had already cast ballots before the scheme was exposed.
Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy has issued a certification warning, and JD Vance has called for a full investigation into the ballot plot.
