US spy chief warns Iranian plots to kill American officials have reached 'advanced stages' as Middle East embassies cut staff
Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton told Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a memo dated Friday that Iran had 'substantially increased' efforts to target US personnel. The lethal plotting stretches beyond the Middle East into 'certain other countries'. The memo names no targets and does not say whether attacks are imminent. Non-essential embassy staff and their families have already been ordered out of Saudi Arabia.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe was copied on Clayton's warning to Rubio.
At a Florida rally, Trump said the US 'may do another little Epic Fury'.
Iran reportedly has detailed plans to hit Gulf undersea cables if war resumes.
