NFL pushes ahead with its first Paris game on Sunday despite Trump saying it could have been postponed amid riots
Pete Hegseth's office tried to pull every US service member from the Steelers-Saints clash at Stade de France. It backed down after State Department officials objected. Only part of the military role, including a colour guard, will return. Paris police have already forced Paris Saint-Germain's match with Lyon to move to Monday, saying officers are stretched thin.
Trump warned: 'That's what happens when you allow unlimited numbers of people into your country.'
The US Embassy has urged Americans to avoid protests as curfews hit Paris, Lille and Lyon.
The Steelers have cancelled a fan event, but the NFL insists Sunday's game is safe.
