US woman, 44, is charged with homicide after 'watching porn on her phone' moments before a deadly Utah crash
Scott LaVar Lichfield, 66, died after being airlifted to hospital following the June 12 crash on I-15, which police say left no brake marks on the road.
Grandfather Scott LaVar Lichfield, 66, of Fillmore, died after Christine Chao's SUV rear-ended slowed traffic at roadworks on the I-15 in Juab County. A search of her phone allegedly revealed Chao had opened a porn site 'less than two minutes before the crash'. The road showed no sign of braking. The Californian allegedly 'told officers she was at fault'.
Lichfield, a backseat passenger, was airlifted to hospital but died of a head injury.
Chao faces a second-degree felony automobile homicide charge and appears in court on November 17.
Lichfield's family called him 'one very loved gentle soul' who loved playing Santa Claus.
