Vanuatu is rocked by two powerful earthquakes within four minutes as a tsunami warning is issued

The first quake was initially recorded at magnitude 7.2 before the United States Geological Survey downgraded it to 6.9. It hit about 197km west-northwest of Port-Olry at a shallow depth of 10km. A magnitude 6.3 shock followed 170km northwest of the town. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre warned hazardous waves were possible within 300km, but there were no immediate reports of damage.
The quakes struck at 3.31am and 3.35am BST on Saturday.
