Vegan chocolate maker, 24, accuses Toblerone of 'corporate bullying' after it sues her Sussex brand over her bar's shape

Catherine Dodd, 24, founded Catherine's Originals in Walberton, West Sussex, with boyfriend Jamie Miller, 25, in 2021, starting out making vegan sweets before building an award-winning plant-based chocolate company. Mondelez International, the Kraft-owned snack giant behind Toblerone, has filed papers at London's High Court alleging her O'bar range constitutes 'passing off' and trademark infringement of the iconic triangular bar.

Dodd called the lawsuit 'corporate bullying', insisting the O'bar's curved semi-oval segments look 'not one little bit' like a triangle.

The O'bar, a bestselling vegan, gluten-free range priced from £9.20, is described on the company's site as the product that 'started it all'.

Dodd admitted the accusations are 'fairly frightening' but vowed: 'Being a smaller business does not mean being afraid to stand up for what we've created.'
